Life In The U.S.A. #5

Let's talk about American High School.

I leave for school around 7.30 a.m. School starts at 8 a.m. It ends around 2.16 p.m. My classes are (listed according to the period): U.S. Government, Dance I, Algebra II, Psychology, Ceramics I, Chemistry, English 12 and Mythology & Folklore. I have 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th period on A days and 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th period on B days. This is how it works:

First day of school - Mon - A day
Tues - B day
Wed - A
Thurs - B
Fri - A

and the following week goes:

Mon - B
Tues - A
Wed - B
Thurs - A
Fri - B

and it just keeps on ABABABABAB.

I don't care if you don't get what I mean. Sometimes I get confused too. I need to ask my friend to confirm if the following day is an A day or a B day.

Unlike Malaysia, it is not compulsory for a student to join a school club. (No PBSM yay!) A lot of students do not involve themselves in clubs. Personally I think those school clubs are fun. I am currently joining Key Club which provides many volunteering opportunities. Unfortunately, I was too late to sign up for some of the services but I still get to meet a lot of outgoing friends through the club!

There were many school events which I find very extraordinary.

Announcement in School
The Video Production class are in charge of making announcement. They make it like the news you see on the TV: two students are like the news reporter and they do announcement such as 'attention to seniors, the 4th bus for grad night is now open for register!' etc. (It was called PVTV by the way.) Sometimes, they interview the other students about hot issues like 'who do you think will win the Super Bowl?' 'Shout out to your Valentine's sweetheart!'. They'll combine those interviews/responses with the 'news'. Usually, our teachers will play the latest video they made on the second period everyday.

Mr Panther
It is like a beauty pageant contest but for guys in 12th grade. The school do this every year. It was held in the school theater at night, and you need to buy ticket to watch the show. They invited former Miss Nevada to be one of the judges. I don't know why but that sounds really cool to me. The contestants did an awesome and hilarious performance together on stage. Each one of them did a solo performance too. Some sang, some danced, some performed magic tricks. On the other hand, the organizers did something like you can place a bid to win a lunch date with your favorite contestant. The lunch date was sponsored by some sort of hotel or company hahaha. It was really interesting!

Basketball Games
I LOVE THE BAND AND THE DANCE CREW AND THE CHEERLEADERS. THE PALO SPIRIT IS SO STRONG. I LOVE THE CROWD AND THE CHEERS. NO WORDS CAN DESCRIBE HOW AMAZING THE GAMES WERE. I FINALLY WITNESSED THE FIRST SLAM DUNK IN MY LIFE HAHAHA. (I would say that the UNLV Basketball Game was the best but it was a college basketball game so yeah...)

Spirit Week
It was organized by the student council. There was a week where people dressed up in pajamas on Monday, Palo shirts on Tuesday, Green-out on Wednesday, Black-out on Thursday and White-out or Neon on Friday. (I'm sorry I think I sort of messed up with the theme and the days but I just can't remember) On that Friday, where everyone was wearing neon or white, they held a black-out assembly in the gym. It was a brilliant idea. They gave out glowing stick and the assembly was beautiful.

Matchmaker
Last month, I filled up a form issued by my English teacher about my personal interests. It's a matchmaker test. The results was out recently, and I can buy mine at the student store for 1 or 2 dollars. I didn't get it but I'm not sure if I'll get it or not. It sounds pretty fun tho. I'll see if it is still available on Monday. I might just get it for fun and as a remembrance.

GOING TO CALIFORNIA DISNEYLAND FOR GRADUATION NIGHT I'M REALLY EXCITED I CANNOT EXPRESS MY EXCITEMENT IN WORDS FHEUIGFUAKLDBJSASDANDKJABDAKWUGDUKWADA

p/s: The school system varies in different area. What I'm telling you right now is just simply apply to my school.

p/p/s: Please don't ask me whether the syllabus is difficult or not. I think the education system here is more liberal and enjoyable compared to the system in Malaysia, but talking about difficulty, I would say it simply depends on individual.

I am so sorry for all the grammar mistakes in this post HAHAHAHA
Good night.

Life as a Form 6 Student / STPM Candidate

Update @ 27/3/19:  Since Google+ comment has been turned down, I've posted another post, Should You Go for Form 6/STPM here . Feel free to ask or comment. More than glad to help! Back in 2016, I joined Form 6 without second thoughts because I didn't want to limit my options for the future (which is why I turned down a 100% scholarship for foundation in Xiamen University Malaysia) I didn't want to pay for A-Levels (I could only get partial scholarships) I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and I didn't want to choose a diploma yet I swear to God, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was a straight A's student in SPM 2015 and yet I find STPM extremely challenging. If I say I worked 100% hard for my SPM, I definitely worked at least 800% harder for STPM. Like my friend once said, you won't know if you are really good in academics until you've come to STPM. 10A's in SPM is really nothing compared to 4.0 in STPM.  I took Pengajian

Life In The U.S.A. #8 - Close to The End

Counting down 9 days till I leave Vegas... Yes, I'm excited to go home and meet my beloved family and friends, but I'm really sad to leave my wonderful host family and my amazing friends. I still remember how I felt during my flight. I was nervous but super excited that meet my host family. I was thinking how should I call them and what I can say if things get awkward. And yay I arrived. I remember the first thing I saw when I arrived at the McCarran International Airport - slot machines. Dang. It's Vegas being Vegas. *laugh* (And guess what? There are slot machines in the pharmacies too! No idea why but it doesn't matter. It's Vegas. That explains it all.) I remember my host mum was looking smoking hot at the airport :P And we went to... (Let's just skip it. I swear I can tell you every single detail that happened on my first day here but I don't know how long I will take to finish it.) My exchange journey had been amazing. It's full of ups and do

Feminism

Back in the days where I was a total mess after a bad breakup, I worked hard to put up my brave front, shed no tears and face everyday with an aggressive attitude. I tried so hard just to tell myself that I'm fine being on my own and I do not need anybody else to complete my life. And I was called a feminist, not really in a good way. I felt truly insulted. I don't know, but it feels like feminist is somebody who is not lovable nor approachable. It feels like a feminist is equivalent of being alone and meant to be a virgin for the rest of her life. It took me years to realize that feminism is not that bad after all. In fact, it is something I should be proud of. I'm not going to talk in depth about the first and second waves of feminism in the history. I'm just going to talk about feminism in the present, where many people would assume that "it's just a bunch of females getting butthurt over some random shit". Recently, my class had been told som
