Another morning spending in the gym in Vegas-
I was working on an abs bench, all sweated out and exhausted. An old man sat on the bench next to me. He seemed like he just had a great workout too. We made eye contact and smiled.
"Hey, how are you?" he asked.
"I'm good, thanks! How about you?"
"Good, just waiting for my friend to complete his workout. Are you new here? I've never seen you around."
"Well, sort of, I am a foreign exchange student here in Vegas so yeah.."
"Oh wow, where are you from? How long have you been here?"
"I'm from Malaysia. Been here since February. Are you a local here?"
"Oh actually I just moved here from [a place that I can't remember] after I retired.. Las Vegas, it's a crazy place!"
"Oh wow cool! Do you like it here?" I asked.
"Yea I like it here. It's a lot of fun!"
"It sure is! Tons of casinos and slot machines.. Do you gamble a lot? Hah!"
"I'm not going to admit that I gamble quite often with my friends."
*laughs*
"Anyway if I'm not mistaken, Malaysia is right below Thailand, right?"
"Yup!"
"I've never been to Malaysia but I did visit Thailand about 10 years ago. Bought a fake Rolex watch with 10 bucks and it lasted for 9 years, worth more than those that cost hundreds!"
"Hah sure it does. And you should visit Malaysia someday!"
"I definitely would. Do you like it here?"
"I love it here! Everything is just so wonderful. I wish I could stay."
"When are you going back?"
"In two more weeks."
"Oh yikes! That stinks."
"I know, right?"
"Anyway, I hope to see you around again. My friend's there and I got to go! It was nice talking to you. All the best to you and have a safe flight home."
"I hope so too. And thank you."
He patted on my shoulder and left.
And that was the last time I saw him.

"Why are you never active on social media?"
"I just don't like it, and it makes varnishing easier."
"Why would you wanna varnish?"
"It seems fun."
"It's not. What should I do if you varnish?"
"Just keep on living."
He varnished, and I keep on living.
